Maglev Shanghai

Maglev.jpg
The Shanghai Transrapid Maglev Line is the world's first high-speed commercial commuting system using the state-of-the-art electromagnetic levitation technology. The 30 km (19.5 miles) and double-track project started on March 2001. It was on commercial operation in late 2003. Construction began in April 2001 of the first commercial Transrapid system. Despite the fact that the maglev was the first revenue-producing point-to-point high-speed maglev in the world, the system was up and running by 2004.
With a top speed of 430 km per hour (267 miles per hour), it only takes eight minutes for a one-way trip, which connects the Pudong International Airport and the Longyang Road Station, a downtown subway station. The total cost of the project is about 10 billion yuan (1.2 billion US dollars).
The high-speed train takes about 2 minutes and 15 seconds to reach 300 km/h and about 4 minutes to reach its peak speed, 430 km/h. The ride of the train is comfortable and quiet due to the maglev technology and the specially designed window. Its noise level is less than 60 decibels at a speed of 300 km/h.
Is it a Bird? A Plane? Nope, only Shanghai's flashy new Maglev, the world's fastest train. Way ahead of its time seven decades ago, the still-futuristic magnetic levitation system may yet redefine travel everywhere.

Cost in Shanghai

Shanghai is among the top 10 cities for living cost in the world. Actually, it is the sixth expensive city for expatriates, according to CNN.
Rent for a small house
It depends. Apartments with different size, different area, different decoration style and different environment may vary greatly in price.
To buy an apartment will cost you a lot. It is more expensive than a house in U.S. Average price is about 5000 RMB per sq. m. in urban areas. The price for some downtown areas will be about 9,000 ~ 10,000 RMB per sq. m.
Transportation
This is the easiest one since the price is settled and consistent across the city.
Bus: 1 or 1.5 RMB for normal bus and 2 RMB for air-conditioned bus.
Taxi: 10 RMB staring price with 3 km and 2 RMB for each kilometer more.
Metro: 3 to 6 RMB depending on the distance.
Other prices

Big Mac: 10 RMB. McDonald's and KFC can be seen everywhere. The price is low. 20-30 RMB will get a great meal there.
Local food: About 30 RMB per person will get very good food. There are lots of restaurant in the city. Normal dishes cost about 16 RMB, while some expensive one cost 40-60 RMB.

At press time, the upscale Babyface was contemplating a move from Maoming Lu to more sophisticated surroundings on Huaihai Lu. An outpost of the popular Guangzhou nightclub, the club draws a well-dressed crowd of wannabes who don't mind waiting outside along the velvet rope before dancing to progressive house and hard trance.
Although Babyface has moved to a new location, remains busy with locals.Top stylish interior, good music (House to Hard Trance) and well mixed drinks. It's rather small, fills up almost every night. The interior is all bright tiles, glowing neon, reflecting wall mirrors and sparkling ceiling beads. With all the colour, music and flashing lights, it can make it seem at times that you’re inside a pin-ball machine. Still, there’s no doubting the energy and hot looks of this Baby. DJs spin techno and house, there are a number of cosy private rooms to lounge in, and an extensive cocktail list, your favourite Cosmos coming with neon plastic ice cubes in them. One popular concoction here is table service bottles of Chivas, mixed with green tea.
A true Chinese original, just like Babyface!

Asia Cup football

From its humble beginnings in 1956, the AFC Asian Cup has developed into the continent’s premier football tournament, bringing together the top national teams from the length and breadth of Asia to compete for one of international football’s most sought-after prizes every four years.
The tournament had it roots in the formation of the Asian Football Confederation in Manila in 1954. The 12 founder members of the AFC sought to shape the development of the game in Asia and one of the keys to achieving that aim was the organisation of a regional competition for the continent's international teams.
Just two years later, the first ever Asian Cup was staged in Hong Kong with seven of the 12 affiliated national associations vying for the title of Asia's best football team.
Over half a century later, the Asian Cup has grown to encompass teams from throughout the continent and has become the barometer by which the continually changing balance of power in Asian football is measured.
From the dominance of Korea Republic in the early years of the competition, the Asian Cup became the providence of the mighty Iranians who won three consecutive tournaments from 1968 to 1976.
During the 1980s, the Gulf states asserted themselves with Kuwait becoming the first Arab side to win the competition in 1980 before Saudi Arabia claimed three of the next four championships, reaching the final five times in a row.
Japan's Asian Cup victories in 1992, 2000 and 2004 signaled a shift in power back to East Asia at the turn of the Millennium although the highly competitive nature of the most recent tournament in China is a clear indication that competition remains keen among the sides looking to be crowned Asia’s top national team.

Apartment for rent in Shanghai

There are basically three major types of apartments in Shanghai. They are service apartments, newly built communities, and old simple apartments.
Service Apartment
For example, the Chang Fa Garden (map) at 290 Pan Yu Rd. has good location. They have satellite TV and large clubs (in a five star hotel nearby). The rent price is 6000-8000 RMB per month for a 100 sq. meter apartment with two bed rooms and a guest room. Many foreigners choose this kind of apartment. They offer hotel like services.
These apartments tend to be old and the furniture may be out of date. However, they have very good locations. There are some newly built service apartments and their price will be higher.
Newly Built CommunitiesVanke Waltz Garden is an example. These are very good choice since they offer good view, safety and brand new houses. It takes 5000-6000 RMB to rent an 98 sq. meter apartment there, although this is already relatively far away from Xujiahui (3.3 km).
Old Simple Houses
In Shanghai, the most impressive buildings were the Old houses. I mean the house built after 1950. They look ugly and are similar. They are typically 6 stories with a flat roof. Local people will choose these apartments and seldom do I see a foreigner will like it. It should cost 2000 RMB to rent a small apartment with 60 sq. meter around the area of Chang Fa Garden

Amazing city

Hong Kong is an amazing city. Impressive skyscrapers reflect the great wealth that is here. A fact often quoted is that H.K. has the highest density of Rolls Royces in the world.
On arrival in Hong Kong, one can not help but be impressed with the new Chek Lap Kok airport, the largest engineering project in the world. As the hub of Asia it serves 35 million passengers a year. The road system is fantastic and on either side of the highway, modern high rises, one beside the other, form a gigantic fortress of steel, glass and concrete.
Nearly every visitor to Hong Kong takes the cable car to Victoria Peak, a climb of 550m. This funicular system has been running since 1888 and takes eight minutes to reach the top. Peak Tower is an innovative complex that offers dining with panoramic views of the city and island.
The Hong Kong Lantern and Temple Festival which is also being celebrated in homes and temples. There are Chinese vaudeville acts, acrobats, handicraft stalls, local snack booths and an awesome collection of lanterns on display. Many activities are geared for children, so families can share this time together.
Reassure travellers that the freedom Hong Kong has always enjoyed has not changed with the Chinese takeover in 1997. The "One Country, Two Systems" policy guarantees the existing capitalist system and lifestyle for at least 48 more years.
"City of Life" is an understatement in every sense of the word because Hong Kong's vitality is unforgettable.

All Olympic Mascots

福娃.jpg
Like the Five Olympic Rings from which they draw their color and inspiration, the Five Friendlies will serve as the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace–and blessings from China–to children all over the world.
Designed to express the playful qualities of five little children who form an intimate circle of friends, the Five Friendlies also embody the natural characteristics of four of China’s most popular animals–the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow–and the Olympic Flame.
Each of the Friendlies has a rhyming two-syllable name–a traditional way of expressing affection for children in China. Beibei is the Fish, Jingjing is the Panda, Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Nini is the Swallow.
When you put their names together–Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni–they say “Welcome to Beijing,” offering a warm invitation that reflects the mission of the Five Friendlies as young ambassadors for the Olympic Games.
The Five Friendlies also embody both the landscape and the dreams and aspirations of people from every part of the vast country of China. In their origins and their headpieces, you can see the five elements of nature–the sea, forest, fire, earth and sky–all stylistic rendered in ways that represent the deep traditional influences of Chinese folk art and ornamentation.

Book taxi shanghai

Taxis are everywhere in shanghai. No matter what time of day, you can easily hail one on almost any main street in the city. Taking taxis is generally very convenient and affordable(only ten yuan for the first three kilometers).
But when you want to go places which aren’t nearby and you want to save your time ,or in a very bad weather such as rainy ,booking a taxi is a good choice. You can call to book taxi by the number you printed. However, please note:
1. Most of the operators can’t speak English
2. Do not book taxi if you will go to places nearby. No taxi driver would like to drive far to your place to take you for 10 RMB. If you to Pudong Airport, they will be happy to come to your door from anywhere in the city. Don't be surprised if they tell you all taxi are occupied. Maybe the operator just don't want to pass your request to taxi drivers because it is too near.
3.Here is some phone numbers about booking taxi, I hope it will help you.

Red Sorghum will delight those that enjoy the art of cinematography. This visually stunning film truly deserves its international acclaim simply because of the way it presents the tale through its remarkable use of imagery, lighting, and filters.
It presents to us some of the Northern Chinese cultural traditions. Its display of the Japanese brutality could not have been better presented. The Japanese have been quite swinish during this period in Chinese history.

Cost Of Living In China

whether the cost of living in china is high or not?It is hard to say.Different province has its own price.
In shanghai, most of people believe the cost of living is very high. But people in western region may not has the same thought. And when we talk about the cost of living we mean the cost of housing, food, transportation etc. And in comparison to some other countries. It is relatively high.
The per capita income has increased a lot since 1990 in china. As the the cost of living advanced, so did the wages. It is not a burden for people to live in china, altough the cost of living is high
With the speed of economic development in china ,more and more people will become richer and richer. At that time people will not feel the question is hard to answer.

Pictures Of Maglev

Introduction
The principal of a Magnet train is that floats on a magnetic field and is propelled by a linear induction motor. They follow guidance tracks with magnets. These trains are often refered to as Magnetically Levitated trains which is abbreviated to MagLev. Although maglevs don't use steel wheel on steel rail usually associated with trains, the dictionary definition of a train is a long line of vehicles travelling in the same direction - it is a train.
Maglev3.gif

How it works
Maglev4.gif
A maglev train floats about 10mm above the guidway on a magnetic field. It is propelled by the guidway itself rather than an onboard engine by changing magnetic fields (see right). Once the train is pulled into the next section the magnetism switches so that the train is pulled on again. The Electro-magnets run the length of the guideway.
